Ahmedabad : The Southern Command Investiture Ceremony 2026, held in Ahmedabad on 06–07 February 2026, underscored the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to operational excellence, combat readiness and national security. Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, conferred gallantry and distinguished service awards on 34 personnel in recognition of their exceptional courage, leadership and devotion to duty.

A total of 33 units were awarded the prestigious “GOC-in-C, Southern Command Unit Citation” for demonstrating superior operational performance, mission effectiveness and professional excellence across diverse operational environments. The ceremony commenced with a Ceremonial Guard of Honour, reflecting the time-honoured traditions, discipline and ethos of the Indian Army.
In his address, Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth highlighted Southern Command’s high state of operational preparedness, jointmanship and multi-domain warfighting capability, demonstrated during recent operations and large-scale exercises. He emphasised the Command’s continued focus on force modernisation, technology infusion, network-centric operations and inter-agency synergy to strengthen integrated combat capability and ensure robust national defence.
The Army Commander also presented Veteran Achievers Awards to distinguished veterans for their continued contributions to nation-building and the defence community. A comprehensive weapon and equipment display showcased next-generation platforms, advanced systems and indigenous capabilities aligned with the Indian Army’s modernisation roadmap under the Decade of Transformation.
Attended by senior military leadership, defence officials, distinguished guests, Veer Naris and Veer Matas, the ceremony reflected solemn pride, honour and national reverence, reaffirming the Indian Army’s enduring values of courage, discipline, sacrifice and selfless service.
