Ahmedabad: The third edition of “Rashtriya Kavya Sangam”, organised to promote Hindi language and literature on the occasion of Hindi Fortnight, was held at the Asmita Sabha Khand in the Gujarat Vidyapith premises in Ahmedabad.

Organised by Sahitya Vikas Parishad in association with Chandrika Foundation and Mewar Janshakti Dal, Udaipur, the literary gathering brought together poets and writers from Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Bharuch, along with participants from Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, giving the event a national character.

A key highlight of the programme was the launch of two literary works — the second edition of “Suryavanshi Mewar Mahakavya”, a poetry collection by Ahmedabad-based poet Narendra Singh Rajpurohit “Aauwa”, and the English novel “Beautiful You Handsome Me” authored by Pooja Upadhyay.

Senior litterateurs Vasant Parihar and Dr. Rishipal Dhiman attended the event as chief guests. They shared their views on the role of literature and language while encouraging young poets and writers to contribute to the literary tradition.

Dinesh Singh Kushwaha, MLA from Bapunagar, and Zainul Abedin Ansari, member of the Urdu Sahitya Akademi, also highlighted the importance of Hindi as a medium of communication connecting India’s diverse linguistic and cultural communities. They congratulated the organisers and participating institutions for the initiative.

Speaking about the significance of the event, Man Kumar, Convenor, said Hindi has expanded beyond India’s borders and is spoken and understood in several countries. He emphasised the role of language in bringing communities together and called for a positive environment that respects and supports the development of Hindi as well as other Indian languages.

The first session of Rashtriya Kavya Sangam was dedicated to renowned poet and litterateur Jhaverchand Meghani, while the second session was dedicated to Harivansh Rai Bachchan. Participating poets presented their compositions, showcasing the diversity, emotional depth and rich traditions of Hindi literature.

The event was attended by Chandrika Makwana, Founder of Chandrika Foundation; Narpat Singh Rathod, Gujarat State President of Karni Sena; Tarun Bhatt, Cultural Minister of Mewar Janshakti Dal, Udaipur; Jagdish Maurya, former President of Gujarat Maurya Samaj, along with several poets, writers, litterateurs and literature enthusiasts.
