Gandhinagar: Reinforcing its commitment to industrial growth and employment generation, the Gujarat government on Monday approved industrial projects involving investments of more than ₹2,999 crore under multiple incentive schemes. The approvals, granted during a series of high-level committee meetings chaired by Deputy Chief Minister and Industries Minister Shri Harsh Sanghavi, are expected to significantly boost manufacturing, infrastructure development and job creation across the state.
Industrial Policy-2015 Continues to Drive Growth
The state government said the Incentives to Industries Scheme under Industrial Policy-2015 was introduced to position Gujarat as one of the world’s most attractive investment destinations by offering Net SGST reimbursement to eligible industries establishing operations in the state.
According to government data, the policy has facilitated investments worth ₹1,48,336.35 crore and generated 1,65,053 direct jobs so far. The initiative has also accelerated the growth of ancillary micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), strengthening Gujarat’s industrial ecosystem.
32 Large Industrial Projects Get Final Approval
A meeting of the committee for granting Final Eligibility Certificates to large industries approved 32 applications involving a cumulative investment of ₹1,978.04 crore, which are expected to generate approximately 4,739 direct jobs.
The approved investments include:
- Ahmedabad: ₹528.49 crore in the automobile, metal, cement and concrete sectors
- Kutch: ₹332.71 crore in the metal sector
- Gandhinagar: ₹35.41 crore in the metal sector
- Bharuch: ₹12.26 crore in the metal sector
- Mehsana: ₹301.16 crore in the plastic and metal sectors
- Morbi: ₹480.16 crore in the ceramic, chemical, paper and plastic sectors
- Vadodara: ₹102.94 crore in the chemical sector
- Sabarkantha: ₹110.42 crore in the ceramic sector
- Surat: ₹74.49 crore in the textile, pharmaceutical and metal sectors
₹649-Crore Project Approved Under Capital Subsidy Scheme
The committee also reviewed proposals under the Capital Subsidy to Large Industries and Thrust Sector Scheme, approving one project involving an investment of ₹649.23 crore. The project is expected to create around 871 direct jobs, further strengthening Gujarat’s industrial ecosystem while generating additional indirect employment opportunities.
Three Textile Units Receive Assistance
The State-Level Empowered Committee under the Scheme for Assistance to Strengthen Specific Segments in the Textile Value Chain-2019 approved assistance for three textile units with a combined investment of ₹165 crore. These projects are expected to generate around 500 direct jobs.
Eligible units will receive interest subsidy and power tariff assistance, with the government providing more than ₹50 crore in support over the next five years.
Industrial Parks to Get ₹372-Crore Investment
Separately, under the Gujarat Industrial Policy-2020, the government approved four projects under the Scheme for Assistance to Industrial Parks. The projects involve a combined investment of over ₹371.70 crore and are expected to strengthen Gujarat’s industrial infrastructure, improve ease of doing business and enhance the state’s attractiveness as an investment destination.
