Canberra: During his ongoing visit to Australia, Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Indian Navy, met Admiral Mark Hammond, Chief of the Australian Defence Force (CDF), in Canberra. The discussions focused on the growing strategic depth of the India–Australia defence partnership, with particular emphasis on advancing the implementation of the Maritime Security Collaboration Roadmap.
The two senior military leaders exchanged views on opportunities to further strengthen maritime cooperation, interoperability and operational coordination between the two countries. The engagement underscored the increasing convergence of India and Australia in promoting maritime security and stability across the Indo-Pacific. The interaction also reaffirmed the shared commitment of both nations to translating strategic convergence into tangible outcomes, contributing to a secure, stable and prosperous Indo-Pacific region. The meeting marks another step towards strengthening the longstanding defence and maritime partnership between India and Australia.
