Ahmedabad: Responding swiftly to the flood situation in Gujarat, the Indian Army, under the Southern Command, has launched extensive Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations by deploying Relief and Rescue Columns, including Engineer and Medical teams, to support the civil administration.
Army teams have been deployed in the flood-affected districts of Navsari, Valsad, Silvassa and Ahmedabad, while additional relief columns remain on standby in Surat, Vadodara and Ahmedabad for rapid deployment as the situation evolves. The relief operations are being carried out in close coordination with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), civil administration and other emergency response agencies to ensure timely rescue and relief efforts.
Rescue operations began late on the night of July 23 in Navsari, one of the worst-affected districts. So far, Army personnel have safely evacuated 43 stranded civilians from inundated areas, with search and rescue missions continuing in vulnerable locations.
The Indian Army has maintained a high state of operational readiness and continues to monitor the evolving flood situation, prepared to respond swiftly to any additional requirements. Reaffirming its commitment to humanitarian service, the Army stated that it will continue working closely with the civil administration to safeguard lives, provide relief and support communities affected by the ongoing floods across Gujarat.
