Ahmedabad accounts for nearly 30% of Gujarat bookings as electric motorcycle maker accelerates expansion amid rising EV adoption.

Ahmedabad : Electric motorcycle manufacturer Oben Electric on Monday unveiled its newly launched Rorr Evo in Ahmedabad and announced plans to expand its retail footprint to 15 showrooms across Gujarat by FY27, as the company seeks to capitalize on growing demand for electric two-wheelers in the state.

The Bengaluru-based EV manufacturer said the expansion will strengthen its presence across key markets including Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Gandhinagar and Mehsana, offering enhanced access to sales, service and customer support infrastructure.

The announcement comes amid accelerating electric vehicle adoption in Gujarat, which has emerged as one of the country’s fastest-growing EV markets. According to the company, Ahmedabad alone accounted for nearly 30% of total Rorr Evo bookings from the state, while Oben Electric received more than 500 dealer enquiries from Gujarat over the past month.

The Rorr Evo was unveiled in the presence of Shri Kaushik Vekariya, Minister of State for Law & Judiciary, Energy & Petrochemicals, and Legislative & Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Gujarat.

In a message shared during the launch event, Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Shri Harsh Sanghavi highlighted the state’s rapid progress in EV adoption and welcomed the introduction of indigenous electric mobility solutions.

Madhumita Agrawal, Founder and CEO of Oben Electric, said Gujarat is emerging as a strategically important market for electric mobility, driven by increasing consumer awareness, a maturing EV ecosystem and rising demand for performance-oriented electric motorcycles.

“The response to the Rorr Evo from Ahmedabad and across Gujarat reinforces our confidence in the state’s long-term potential. We remain focused on building a strong retail and service network to support the next phase of electric mobility adoption,” Agrawal said.

The company said the Rorr Evo has crossed 25,000 bookings within 15 days of launch, making it one of the fastest booking ramps in India’s electric motorcycle segment. Deliveries are scheduled to commence from June 2026.

Oben Electric’s latest motorcycle is priced at an introductory ₹99,999 (ex-showroom) for the first 10,000 customers, after which the price increases to ₹1,24,999. The motorcycle is powered by a proprietary 9 kW IPMSM motor delivering 250 Nm of wheel torque and is paired with a 3.4 kWh LFP battery pack offering a claimed range of 180 km.

The vehicle supports fast charging, enabling 0-80% charge in 90 minutes, and comes with an eight-year battery warranty. It also features SmartIQ, the company’s AI-based ride optimisation platform, along with connected technologies such as OTA updates, navigation, geo-fencing, remote immobilisation and emergency SOS functionality.

Gaurav VK Singhvi, Managing Partner at Avinya Ventures and an early investor in Oben Electric, said the company’s focus on indigenous technology development differentiates it in an industry largely dependent on imported components.

Founded as an R&D-led EV company, Oben Electric currently operates more than 150 showrooms and service centres across over 100 cities in 18 states. The company plans to add another 200 exclusive showrooms nationwide by FY27.

Oben Electric manufactures key EV components, including batteries, motors, vehicle control units and software systems, at its Bengaluru facility, which has an annual production capacity of one lakh motorcycles.
